Kathie Pingree Grades 3-4

Science/Social Studies
Ms. St. George and I are now in the process of teaching our VT History unit. I have her class now and she has my class. My students are studying the geography and the politics of VT with Ms. St. George. I am teaching the history of Vermont and our ancestors. We will have a research paper as well as a project due April 5th, 6th, 8th, and the 9th. On April 20th we had an Abenaki woman coming in to share about her heritage and culture. Here are some pictures from her presentation:
Computer Lab
The students have been going to the computer lab with Mr. Davidson to learn a new program called, Photo Story. This is a program where they scan pictures or objects into their story and they can include a narration as well. They will also have background music to go with their story.

Nature
Every month the class has the experience of learning about nature. We have three parents who come in to do the activities. This month we will do a lesson on our mental map. We will look at how sounds, smells, and natural landmarks help us recognize where we are and allow us to create a mental map of our environment.
Senior Tea and Poetry
The 3/4 classes will be hosting a tea and poetry time with the Seniors of Westford. They have been working on writing different styles of poetry which they will share to the Seniors while they’re eating cookies and having tea. I will update you on how this went along with adding some photos.
