TAP Program Mission Statement
Intern Lisa Windhausen and Mentor
Robin Halnon
Goal 3 of Vermont's Education Goals states: "Vermont will attract, support and develop the most effective teachers and school leaders in the nation." This statewide goal has become a top priority for the Chittenden Central Supervisory Union. We will coordinate our professional pre-service and in-service programs pre-K-16 with the intent of establishing on-going high-level professional training and standards, continuous professional growth opportunities for educators, and aggressive efforts to recruit, retain, recognize and reward effective educators.
It is our belief that all staff in the district are partners in training and supporting a team of highly-skilled professionals to work with our students. This program has been developed through on-going collaborative relationships with our college, university, Department of Education and business partners.
TAP is designed to prepare individuals for successful licensure through the Vermont's Alternative Licensing Program: Peer Review. Although participation in TAP cannot guarantee recommendation for licensure through Peer Review, individuals who are selected to participate in TAP will be provided with the following:
- A supervised, intensive student teaching internship
- Individualized, on-going portfolio development consultations
- A full-semester apprenticeship with a master teacher
- Seminars and related training on various aspects of work in schools such as legal issues, methodologies, assessment, child psychology, policies and procedures designed to improve pedagogic skills
- Thorough, on-going preparation and support for the Peer Review process.
