TAP Program at a Glance
Weekly Seminars
One-semester (20 week) program consisting of a mentored student teaching internship and seminars leading to either middle-level or 7-12 licensure through the VT DOE Peer Review Program. TAP interns are supervised and instructed by TAP faculty, department chairs, and school administrators.
TAP includes weekly seminars to address:
- Teaching Methodology
- Best professional practice as defined by Danielson (4 Domains)
- The McCarthy 4-MAT lesson/unit planning system
- Principles of McTighe’s Understanding by Design, the Vermont Framework of Standards and GEs
- Techniques from The Skillful Teacher (Saphier/RBT)
- Portfolio-building leading to the Peer Review process
- Mentor-training seminars in observation/conferencing techniques based on Danielson’s Enhancing Professional Practice.
