Lexia Reading at Home
Overview of Lexia Reading in the CCSU
CCSU currently owns a supervisory union-wide package for Lexia, a computer program designed to supplement reading instruction and practice for emerging and struggling readers.
CCSU has licenses for Lexia Reading for Hiawatha, Summit, Fleming, Westford and EHS. The way that Lexia licenses work, a license may be used by one student at a time, throughout the day, at home and at school. Lexia estimates that for each six students one license will be needed.
Lexia has two components – the local software that the student uses to login and practice reading skills (this is free and can be installed on any computer), and an administrative interface. The administrative interface can be used to track students’ progress, access instructional materials to help special educators give instruction on targeted concepts and reading areas that the data show the student needs, and assign usernames and passwords to students, faculty, and staff.
Information about implementing Lexia Reading
Lexia recommends that preferably students use Lexia for 20 minutes a day five times a week. To help achieve this much access, parents can download and install the local software client at home and utilize the software when their child is at home after school and on weekends. When parents install the software, they will need to enter our district access code for Lexia Reading which is 4740-0066-6560-4785. Please contact your special education case manager for your student’s username and password.
