Daniel Ryan Jr., Principal
Daniel Ryan is beginning his tenth year as the principal of Thomas Fleming School. He was principal of Rumney Memorial School in Middlesex, Vermont for thirteen years prior to coming to Fleming School. Mr. Ryan was recognized as a “National Distinguished Principal” in 1997. He began his career in education as a teacher at Mater Christi School in Burlington and continued his teaching career at Georgia Elementary and Middle School in Georgia, Vermont. Mr. Ryan has served education as a Burlington School Board member, and is a past President of The Vermont School Board’s Association. He also served as the chairperson of the Vermont Standards Board for Professional Educators. He is an active member of the Vermont Principal’s Association. Mr. Ryan lives in Burlington with his wife and three sons.

Thomas Fleming School is a special and unique school for many reasons. Fleming School is unique as it is the only Vermont School that is a two year school educating fourth and fifth grade students. Thomas Fleming School is named to honor the much beloved former custodian of the school, Thomas Fleming. Our highly qualified dedicated faculty and staff are invested in continuously improving their professional practice and work in collaborative teams to support all students learning progress and achievement.
