Snowboard Club
Club Updates:
Snowboard Club is on hold for the 2011-2012 season until we find new faculty advisors. We are not going to purchase Bolton passes as a group this year. The cost for our corporate rate is only slightly less expensive than their public student season pass rate.
Background Info:
The Snowboard Club is comprised of student snowboarders of all abilities who get together after school and ride. The riding starts as soon as Bolton opens for night skiing and runs through early March, ending before spring sports begin. This is a social club that gives those involved a chance to enjoy their sport while on the mountain with classmates and advisers.
The club provides a bus to the mountain 10 times during the ski season. Club members can ride the bus all 10 times or only when their schedules allow them to ride. Club members have to provide their own lift tickets ether through buying a season pass or buying a lift ticket.
The club has a very limited amount of gear that it can supply so participants have to supply their own equipment or rent that equipment from Bolton. We do have some helmets available to riders who don’t own them or forgot theirs. We accept donations of old but serviceable snowboards and equipment to help participants that may not be able to provide their own.
Be aware that direct supervision of students on the mountain is limited due to the inability for chaperones to ride with every participant at all times. Club members will be free to board with other members of the club and can not always be under supervision of an advisor. We heavily encourage participants to board in groups of three or more for safety. We try to have at least one chaperon in the lodge at all times so that if there is an accident or problem they will be readily available.
Season Pass Info
We are not having a group pass purchase through EHS this year.
Bus Information
There are two options to pay for the bus ride to Bolton Valley. You can pay for the bus for the season. This guarantees you a spot on the bus and is the cheapest option.
You can also pay per trip. This is a slightly higher cost but allows you to only pay when you can ride. You may have the very rare chance that you will get bumped from the bus if it is filled with snowboarders who have paid for the season. The bus cost is calculated based on the numbers of students participating and is non refundable. I try to cut it as close as possible so if you have paid for the season I really don’t have leeway to refund the bus money if for some reason you can’t ride the bus mid season.
Forms
You need your yellow athletic participation form in before you are allowed to ride. You can access the form online here. It still must be printed, filled out and brought to Mr. Preska before you are allowed to snowboard with the club. New forms are REQUIRED every year.
Day of Trip Info
HELMETS ARE MANDITORY!! We have a limited number available to borrow if you don’t have one.
The bus will pick us up outside the main lobby at 3:00 pm we will return to school around 8:00 – 8:30.
Snowboards will be stored in the gym storage closet. I will be in the main lobby in the morning until homeroom to help you put away your boards. If you get to school after homeroom they may allow you to keep them in the main office but please try to get to school before 7:35 so we can store your boards in the proper place.
Snowboard Club’s Skier Policy
If you don’t snowboard there are still options if you want to participate in the Snowboard Club. Skiers can ride the bus on a per ride charge. Priority on the bus seats is given to snowboarders first. If the bus to bolton is full (hasn’t happened yet) then the skiers could lose their spot to a snowboarder. So if your a skier you still have a great chance to ride to Bolton with the club.
2011-2012 probable dates (Thursdays):
