Trash On the Lawn Day Data
Trash on the Lawn Day (TOLD) data is in. Check it out below!
56 % of EHS’s trash by weight was made up of Compostables
What can you do to reduce this?
- Eat all your food or share! (We found a great deal of uneaten food, some unopened!)
- Only purchase what you’ll eat!
- Compost (where available)
- Paper napkins can NOT be recycled because the paper pulp is already too small, but they can be composted
- Brown Paper Towels with food on them can be composted
Did You Know?
- Juice containers from the cafeteria are RECYCLABLE!
- You MUST separate the foil from the plastic; put in a blue bin.
- Both are recyclable but the machine can NOT separate the two.
- Yogurt containers are RECYCLABLE!
31% of EHS’s trash by volume was made up of Wrappers and Other Non-Recyclable Plastics.
- This includes single serving wrappers like chips, candy, granola bars and gum.
What can you do to reduce this?
- Buy in bulk and bring one day’s worth to school in a reusable container.
- Use reusable containers and lunch bags.
Did you Know? 12% of EHS’s trash by volume could have been RECYCLED.
- You CAN RECYCLE!
- Colored paper
- ALL plastic drink bottles (please take off caps and put in trash)
- Cardboard (Except containers that have been in refrigerator or freezer)
- Newspapers and Magazines
- Clean Brown Paper Towels (can be wet with water, no food)
