Health Office Procedures
The Health Office is open from 7:30 A.M. until 2:35 P.M. daily. Students who visit the office during class should do so with a written pass from the classroom teacher. Students who visit between classes will be given a pass to return to class if class has started.
Illness: Most illnesses are spread by contact with others. Therefore it is advisable for those who are ill to avoid school while contagious. Symptoms include but are not limited to diarrhea, vomiting, fever greater than 100, and persistent coughing/sneezing related to a cold virus.
Students who become ill during the school day should report to the Health Office for evaluation. The nurses will assess the illness and contact parents as necessary. Students should never leave school without being released by either the school nurse or the main office staff. Students are only released by the school nurse after contact with the parent/ guardian, or their emergency designee.
Injury: All injuries occuring during the school day will be evaluated by the school nurse and referred to outside medical care as necessary. Parent/guardian, or their emergency designee will be contacted to make those arrangements. In case of severe injury/illness Essex Rescue will be called and parent/guardian/designee contacted as soon as possible.
Transportation: Parents/guardians, or their emergency designee are expected to make transportation arrangements for students released from the Health Office.
