How Things Work
Course Description
The How Things Work class at Essex High School will give us an opportunity to explore the mechanics of how machines make one’s life easier through emphasis on simple machines, bicycles and automobiles, and how airplanes and hot air balloons fly. We will also have opportunities to work with computers, robotics, home lighting, plumbing and appliances.
The teaching styles used in this class will vary depending upon the need and will include lecture, discussion, demonstration, watching videos, listening to audio tapes & CDs, research papers, guest speakers, and student presentations. The predominant method, however, will be one of demonstration with ample hands-on time for students to learn through manipulation of the actual equipment.
