COLONEL STEPHEN D. MACARTHUR
SENIOR AEROSPACE SCIENCE INSTRUCTOR
Colonel Stephen D. MacArthur 'Col Mac' is the Air Force Junior ROTC Department Head/Senior Aerospace Science Instructor (SASI) at Essex High School. He is responsible for managing the overall AFJROTC program at Essex High School and for teaching all of the AFJROTC academic subjects such as The Heritage of Flight, The Science of Flight, The Exploration of Space, and Principles of Management. Colonel MacArthur was commissioned through Officer Training School, Lackland Air Force Base, Texas, in 1971. He began his Air Force career as a management engineering officer and was subsequently selected for pilot training. His career has spanned positions as instructor pilot, training flight chief, executive officer at wing and headquarters level, squadron commander, operations group commander, vice wing commander, and three staff assignments at both major command and joint command headquarters. Colonel MacArthur was born in Berlin, New Hampshire. He is married to the former Kathleen Kennedy. They have three sons, Stephen, Donald, and Ryan, as well as two granddaughters, Anastacia and Paris.
