Level 1

GRADE 9 HONORS ENGLISH L103

If you have demonstrated outstanding academic ability, this course is for you. The program focuses on reading, speaking,writing, and vocabulary development. This course emphasizes types of literature: the epic, the novel, the short story, drama,poetry, and selected non-fiction. Expect to read and write extensively and be responsible for considerable independent work.The first nine weeks of this course are a probationary period. At the end of that time, if you have not demonstrated a verystrong desire and aptitude for a rigorous study of literature and writing, you will be assigned to a section of Grade 9 English(E201). This course may require summer reading.

Prerequisite: Students must have earned a grade of "A" in grade 8 Language Arts/Reading. 1 Credit [EN]

Level 2

GRADE 9 ENGLISH L201

If you have already demonstrated considerable academic progress, this program will help prepare you for college or other academically oriented work. You will study examples of novels, short stories, drama, poetry, and non-fiction as types of literature.You will also participate in a variety of exercises in speech, grammar, vocabulary, composition, and study skills. Youwill review research skills and write a researched essay.

This course provides you with an opportunity to further develop basic skills: reading, writing, speaking, spelling, and vocabulary. You will study short stories, drama, poetry, and non-fiction as types of literature. This program prepares you for
