STUDENTS AND CELL PHONES:  Cell phones should neither be seen nor heard in classrooms and academic hallways (C-wing for example).  Students may use cell phones only during non-instructional time in either the Main Office of Guidance Lobby areas.

NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

GRADUATION ANNOUNCEMENTS:  Attention Seniors:  If you did not order graduation announcements and would like some, it is not too late!  You can order them on line at www.balfour.com

 

ADVANCED PLACEMENT EXAMS:  (see note below regarding attendance)

A reminder to students taking the Biology, Music Theory, Physics C Mechanics or Physics C Magnetism AP exam Monday (5/12) to be sure to:

v       Arrive at the Essex Alliance Church Hall/Gym by 7:45 for the Biology or Music Theory exams. The exam starts at 8:00 am sharp!

v       Arrive at the Essex Alliance Church Hall/Gym by 11:45 for the Physics C Mechanics exam. The exam starts at 12:00 sharp!  The Physics C Magnetism AP exam starts at 2:00.

v       Bring a picture ID (photo driver’s license or school ID), two #2 pencils, two ballpoint pens (blue or black ink).

v       Wear or bring layered clothing in case the air conditioning is on

v       Do not bring listening devices, beepers or cell phones on site

v       See Mr. Mosher in the Main Office or Mrs. Blake in the Guidance Office if you have questions.

 

Note:  If you are taking a morning AP exam, you are expected to attend your Block 7-8 class.  If you are taking an afternoon exam, you must attend your Block 1-2 and 3-4 classes; go to lunch and then head to your exam.  If you miss any of these classes, you will receive an unexcused absence unless you bring a note from your parent/guardian.

 

ACT:  A reminder to college bound seniors that the application deadline for the June 14th administration of the ACT (American College Test) is tomorrow (Friday, 5/9).  You can register on line at www.act.org or some registration bulletins are available in the Guidance and Counseling Office.  If you need accommodations and you have not already completed a student eligibility form, see your case manager or counselor immediately.

 

FOR STAFF & STUDENTS:  Coach David Rich is being honored for his 21 years of service coaching Boys' JV Basketball.  For anyone interested in attending, it will be tomorrow (Friday (5/9) from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at the original E.H.S. cafeteria.  (This location is a change from earlier notices.)  There will be beverages, appetizers & desserts.  There will be a slide show presentation, & anyone wishing to say a few words to roast or honor Coach Rich should let us know when you arrive that evening.  There will be a sign-up sheet.  If you know of family members/friends who were on one of the coach's past teams, please feel free to spread the word!

 

AFTER PROM PARTY:  EHS parents are planning an after prom party for all students attending the Jr/Sr prom.  It will be held at the Essex Cinemas.  Free for all who attended the prom.  New Movies, prizes (such as Wii, Burton, health club memberships, gas cards) and many more surprises.  It starts at 12:00am and ends at 6:00am. There will be a hypnotist around 3:00am.  Bottomless popcorn and soda!  Come try to win a prize and have fun.

AP EXAMS:   Testing is at the Essex Alliance Church Hall/Gym           - English Literature exam @ 8:00 AM – arrive by 7:45

 

AERO CLUB:  Meeting today at 2:30 in C111.

 

“DROP IN” BLOCK FOR THE GUIDANCE OFFICE:  Students, faculty or staff who have a quick question (10 minutes or less) may stop by the Guidance Office to talk with their counselor without an appointment today during Block 5-6.  You are more than welcome to bring your lunch along.

 

TRACK & RUGBY FUNDRAISER COOKIES:  Just a reminder that cookies from the track and rugby teams' fund raiser

will be delivered today and distributed behind the athletic stadium @ 2:45.  Please be there to collect your boxes.

 

HONORS BAND:  There will be no Honors Band today due to All State.

 

DDR:  Zounds!  It's getting nice outside and we're still having a real blast inside on "A" day Wednesdays and Thursdays.  We’ll meet today from 2:30 - 4:00 in room D-104.  Let's get pumped, people!

 

RED CROSS CLUB:  Meeting today in C118 at 2:30 to finalize plans for sending packages to soldiers in Afghanistan.  Please be there!!

 

ROBOTICS CLUB:  Today’s meeting is cancelled.

REPEAT ANNOUNCEMENTS

SENIORS:  

·          Mandatory class meeting on Thursday (5/22) in the Auditorium from 8:00 to 9:15 AM.

 

·          Caps and Gowns:  Balfour will be here Wednesday (5/14) from 10:00 to 2:45 in the Gym to distribute caps and gowns.  The fee is $19 and checks should be made payable to Balfour.

 

·          If you were born outside of the United States and would like to be recognized at the graduation ceremony on 6/14, please see Ms. Rath in the Guidance Office as soon as possible.

 

·          Let us know what you plan to do next year.  Stop by the Library, fill out a quick form and you will be included in the bulletin board about EHS Seniors' plans for next year.

 

MURDER MYSTERY DINNER THEATER:  The EHS Theater Club and the CTE Professional Foods Program are teaming up to raise funds for COTS.  On Saturday (5/17) from 6-9pm, a four-course dinner will be prepared and served by culinary students while the Theater Club will perform a comical "whodunit" set in the 1920s and 1930s.  Cost is $20.00 per person, and tickets are currently available in the Main Office.  Seating is limited, so get your tickets early.

 

PROM TICKETS will be sold starting Monday (5/12) through Friday (5/16) during lunches in front of the cafeteria.  Prom tickets will be $25 each.  The Prom is Saturday (5/24).
