GATORADE ATHLETE OF THE YEAR AWARDS

In an unprecedented season, Essex has won the following 2009-10 Gatorade Player of the Year Awards, designating the top player in our state.  The award also recognizes the winners for their academic and community service accomplishments.

MIKE DIMAMBRO – BOYS’ TRACK & FIELD

ALEXIS PERRY – SOFTBALL

In addition, though Gatorade does not recognize hockey, JAKE ORR and JULIE PEARL won the Burlington Free Press Mr. and Miss Hockey Award as the best hockey players in Vermont.

ETHAN ALLEN CLUB SCHOLARSHIP NOMINATIONS

We are proud to announce the Essex High School recipients of the prestigious Ethan Allen Club Scholarship nominations for 2009-10.  These fine student-athletes were selected from among the best in Chittenden County for accomplishments in sports, academics, school and community.  The overall winners and recipients of the $2,500 scholarship, Jake Orr and Julie Pearl, were selected from among ALL nomination recipients from all three seasons, as the top student-athletes in the entire Chittenden Country region!

FALL

WINTER

Mary Crowley – Nordic Skiing, Jake Orr – Boys’ Hockey, Julie Pearl – Girls’ Hockey, Becca Frost – Cheerleading, Charlie Kline – Wrestling

Jake Orr – Golf, Charlie Kline – Track & Field, Katie Polakowski – Track & Field, Julie Pearl – Girls’ Lacrosse

VSADA SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARDS

Congratulatons to Katie Polakowski and Jake Orr, recipients of the prestigious 2010 Vermont State Athletic Directors Association Scholar-Athlete Award.  The awards, presented to 10 of the finest senior student-athletes in Vermont, recognize athletic achievement, scholarship, and community service.  Former Hornet, and current UVM basketball star Alissa Sheftic, was the guest speaker at the banquet on March 9th. Below the picture is some information regarding the amazing accomplishments of our recipients:
