Computer Applications
Course Description:
Students start out with an assessement review of touch typing followed by fundamental inputting skills such as business letters, reports, and projects using Microsoft Word 2007. The students will become familiar with the basic current computer hardware and software including accessing the Education Center’s network. This course also offers a Career Exploration Unit that incorporates many uses of technology. Upon completion of Computer Applications, a student’s computer literacy requirement for graduation will be fulfilled.
Course Objectives: 
- Learn/review the alpha keyboard with the touch typing method within the first three weeks of classes.
- Learn formatting styles for personal business letters and business letters.
- Learn to format MLA reports and column tables.
- Practice language skills (i.e. grammar and usage) useful in our everyday lives.
- Read and summarize current articles and information applicable to the course.
- Learn about Windows.
- Learn about the following softward programs: Microsoft Word 2007, GroupWise email, Internet and PowerPoint.
- Learn how to use school resources such as Noodletools and Turnitin.com

Teaching Styles:
Teaching styles include hands on, lecture, class discussion, and guided
and unguided practice.

Student Evaluation:
Students will be evaluated by performance, production, daily
assignments, quizzes, tests, and individual projects.
