The VT-781 Color Guard at Essex High School is a proud organization made up of cadets, who present the colors at school athletic events, local ceremonies, and various parades and ceremonies throughout the state. Color Guards consist of four to six cadets carrying the U.S., Vermont, Air Force, and POW flags, and two rifle guards. We also compete in the Northern New England Drill League with the VT-781 Drill Team pitted against teams throughout Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. In recent years, the Color Guard competitive team has placed first, second, or third in nearly every competition.   We will be performing at most Home Varsity games until competition season heats up, so please stop by and cheer for the flag and the cadets!!!

The Color Guard practices each Wednesday and Friday after school, and we’re always looking for new cadet talent.
