Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica 2011-2012
Mission Statement:
To promote Spanish as a language and culture in Essex High School and the community through service and celebration.
Purpose:
The Sociedad Honoraria Hispánica (SHH) is an honor society for high school students of Spanish and is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). The purpose of the society is to recognize high achievement of high school students in the Spanish and Portuguese languages and to promote a continuing interest in Hispanic and Portuguese studies.

The Cuernavaca was established by the Modern World Language Department in January 2009.
Requirements for Membership:
- Sophomore, junior, or senior status
- Successfully completion Spanish II
- Enrolled in Spanish III or above in current school year
- 92 average in Spanish
