In The Know... important information you need to know!

  • Essex High School Parent/Teacher conferences are scheduled for Thursday, October 9th from 3:00 to 8:30 p.m. There are no appointments necessary and the locations of teachers will be made available to you along with a copy of your child`s schedule when you arrive at the high school.

    We have a second Parent/Teacher conference day on Thursday, October 16th from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you.
  • ATTENTION ALL 9TH GRADE STUDENTS Starting Monday September 8th through Friday, October 3rd, School Counselors will be meeting with all 9th grade students. A letter went home to all families with individual appointment times. If you are a 9th grade student and did not receive a letter, please either contact the school counseling department for your appointment time or ask one of your teachers. All teachers have access to a master calendar list. We look forward to meeting with all of our 9th graders as you start your school career at EHS!

Virtual Intercultural Avenues (VIA), a web-based portal for EHS teachers and students, had a successful launch last year, creating a virtual international bridge between schools. VIA has connected 1,500 students, 25 teachers, 15 schools, 8 cities, and 4 countries, employing nine technology platforms, including Scopia, Blogger, Vimeo, Twitter, and Middlebury Interactive Languages. VIA encourages student and teacher collaboration through synchronous correspondence, videoconferencing, and project-based learning between classrooms internationally. Overall, in less than one year, there have been 10,300 views of the VIA blog and 1,600 plays of videos produced and shared by students in the U.S., Belgium, and France.  Read More

This year Yearbook students made Essex High School Yearbook Promo 2014-2015 video. Many students do not understand why they should be interested in purchasing a yearbook (this film should give them a few reasons, as well as help to build support for the book).  Read More

The library makerspace has its grand opening tomorrow, September 17th starting at 8am! There will be knitting, Arduino, MakeyMakey, drawing, vinyl cutting, and button-making, among many other things. Whether you love textiles, making comic strips, painting or technology, there is something for everyone. What you dream you can create! Check out the inaugural edition of The Voice, a monthly magazine that will be published by Young Writers Project throughout the school year. It offers students a dynamic new place to publish writing and photography, and share videos and audio. Each month, the YWP team will select the best recent writing and photography seen on - and it will be showcased in The Voice. We are especially pleased to see several EHS students’ work included in this edition.  Read More

The Vermont-NEA Scholars' Bowl will kick off its 33rd season on September 27 with the 16th annual Sue Pasco Opening at Essex High School. The tournament, held in conjunction with the league coaches' meeting, serves as an introduction to the local competition schedule, with a semi-formal format and candy prizes.  Read More
