Welcome to the Property Services’
Grounds Maintenance Division
Our grounds division is responsible for the maintenance of all of our schools’ landscaping, green spaces, athletic fields, roads, and parking lots. The Union 46 district includes approximately 100 acres to mow and maintain with 10 athletic fields to groom and line. Along with maintaining the U46 grounds, the grounds crews must also be responsible for our 4 elementary schools, several out buildings, and 3 public parks, one of which has 2 municipal pools and a lighted baseball stadium. These areas make up an additional 100 acres and 218,000 square feet to be mowed and maintained. During the winter months the grounds maintenance division, salts, shovels, and plows all of the district’s parking lots, sidewalks, and entry ways. Our grounds crew also makes deliveries to all area schools and central office, as well as assisting all other Facilities Management Teams within the department with maintenance needs.
Meet the Grounds Crew
Kim Perry, Grounds Supervisor
Mr. Perry has been with the district since 2001. He started his career with the district in the painting department. He became grounds supervisor in 2008. Kim supervises our summer part time crew, as well as assisting other Facilities Management Teams. Kim works closely with our athletic department. He lines our playing fields, keeps our grounds clean and safe for all students, and provides excellent responsive service to all of our students, faculty, and staff. Kim is also the boys' and girls' golf coach at EHS. The boys' golf team won the Vermont State Championship for the 2008 season during Kim’s first year as head coach.
