CCSU Teacher Leadership

In each CCSU school, various teachers have been asked to play diverse leadership roles for in several areas of school improvement identified in the Comprehensive Plan for Continuous Improvement. School-based designated teacher leaders will be most effective if they reflect on the following skills and are prepared for the challenges and opportunities of distributive leadership.

The “Requisite skills”

Leadership skills:  this includes skills, knowledge, and sensitivities relevant to moderating discussion and decision-making, as well as some familiarity with different types of meeting structures. 

Grasp of issues in change:  some knowledge of the history of school reform movements, managing change strategies, and the prevailing resilience to change.

Content and Assessment:  An appreciation for the richness and diversity of content, skills, and assessment as outlined in the Framework for 21st Century Learning.
