Title I Math

Supplemental Support Programs

Essex Junction School District

Chittenden Central Supervisory Union is committed to closing achievement gaps to better ensure that all our students can communicate and apply the mathematical ideas and skills they need to use successfully in math, science, and many real-life experiences.

Beginning with the 2008-2009 school year, the Essex Junction School District has become a Title I “Targeted-Assistance” district for math. Title I is a federally funded program designed to ensure that all children have a fair and equitable opportunity to meet rigorous standards. Through small group instruction, one-on-one tutoring, classroom-based support, and extended day and extended year learning experiences, students in grades K-8 who are identified as needing additional math support work with highly qualified math support teachers in our Title I Math Program. Title I teachers collaborate in variety of ways with classroom teachers to determine the most effective ways to improve math performance.

Students served by our Title I Math Support Programs are provided with differentiated, needs-based supplemental instruction and materials that provide increased opportunities for them to work toward improving achievement by strengthening their math skills and applications.

In order to make the most progress in closing identified learning gaps, parental involvement in supplemental math support for students is critical. If your child receives Title I math support in any of CCSU’s four Essex Junction schools, then regular, two-way, meaningful communication about your child’s academic learning and progress in math should be anticipated.
