DEPARTMENT OVERVIEW

The Lawton Music Department consists of performing ensembles in band, strings, and chorus.  Approximately 50% of the student body participate in one of these ensembles on a daily basis.  In addition, auditioned ensembles, including Select Chorus, Jazz Band, and Wind Ensemble meet before and after school as scheduled.  All students are invited to participate in these co-curricular activities. All students at ADL also receive instruction in general music as part of the prescribed curriculum for the district. This takes place on a daily schedule for a nine or twelve week rotations throughout the year. The students are supervised and instructed by Mr. Asiat Ali, string instructor and Orchestra Director, Mr. Adam Sawyer, wind and percussion instructor and Band Director, and Mr. Gary Moreau, general music instructor and Chorus and Handbell Director.
