We have an informal writing group meeting in my room after school on Thursdays.

Students have been given the opportunity of expanding and challenging themselves through optional Literature Discussion Groups that will meet during study hall time.

Students in my class frequently use Google Docs for assignments they are working on.  Feel free to have them show you their work.

Accelerated Reader (AR)

Students’ nightly homework includes reading for at least 30 minutes.  As students finish books, they are asked to take an AR quiz on one of the school’s computers.  The students earn monthly grades based on how many points they have earned. If you have any questions, please ask me.

Welcome to Humanities: The integration of reading, writing, and social studies.

After starting our year with some team building, we are ready to start working on our first unit where we will be learning about the geography of the Caribbean and important reading strategies through reading The Cay and completing projects about islands in the Caribbean.

Throughout the year, we will continue to come back to the 5 themes of geography: Location, Place, Movement, Regions, and Human Environment Interactions.
