Ruth Dunkley McGowan

Ruth McGowan graduated from Springfield College with a B.S. in Physical Education and Health Education.  Prior to beginning at Albert D. Lawton Intermediate School in 1977, Ruth was Director of Athletics and taught Health at Cushing Academy in Ashburnham, Massachusetts for four years.  She has been involved in coaching gymnastics throughout her teaching career and is a major part of the afterschool ADL Intramural Program.  Beginning in 1990 Ruth became involved with Peer Leadership Kids, which  focuses on empowering students in leadership roles and creating a safe and drug free school at ADL.   Helping students to develop a passion for and enjoyment of physical activity and fitness is  the current focus of her Physical Education classes.
