School property tax increase will NOT be 10%
The legislature has adjourned and has set the base property tax rates at this year’s levels.
The school budget increase is 1.4%, resulting in the following tax rate increases:
- For those paying by income (whose household income is $90,000 or less): 3.64%
- For those paying based on property: 7.36%
- For non-residential property: 3.72%
Thank you to the Westford residents who attended Tuesday night’s informational meeting. The discussion was thoughtful and respectful. It is always helpful to the school board to understand what questions and opinions our residents have.
Please don’t hesitate to contact a board member if you have questions. And please vote on May 18th at the school between 7am and 7pm or by obtaining an absentee ballot by calling the town office (878-4587) or by e-mailing (townclerk@westfordvt.us) or by contacting the Town Clerk to request one. Absentee ballots must be in the hands of the Town Clerk by 7pm on May 18th.
