ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. – Chittenden Central Supervisory Union (CCSU) Executive Director of Student Support Services Erin Maguire was recently named the Gail Lynk Administrator of the Year at the VSA/VCSEA Spring Conference. Each year the Vermont Council of Special Education Administrators (VCSEA) recognizes and celebrates the achievements of a Vermont special education administrator through the presentation of this award.
Lynk was a special education administrator for many years in Addison Northwest Supervisory Union. She had a tremendous, long lasting, positive impact on the students, families and professionals she worked with before her death. This award recognizes exemplary effort and achievement of behalf of Vermont children with special needs, and is presented by VCSEA to a Special Education Administrator who demonstrates the pursuit of excellence in the field of Special Education.
Maguire is an incredibly dedicated educational leader. Her perseverance, tenacity and passion for improving the lives of children is always present. She is compassionate, a true problem-solver and supports her colleagues across the CCSU system each and every day. Maguire focuses on supporting students with disabilities, supporting students who are experiencing homelessness, implementing high quality preschool, and improving intervention systems. Her support of PBIS, Restorative Justice, high quality mental health services, and MTSS implementation are also very impressive.
Maguire was recently appointed to the role of Policy and Legislative Chair for the Council of Administrators of Special Education (CASE). This is yet another example that shows her ability to lead, consider education policy from the local level to the national level, and excel in a number of different arenas. She has been recognized across the state as a leader in special education and is often requested to present to our fellow colleagues. Maguire has also held a number of different regional and state leadership positions while continuing to provide excellent services to the schools, families and students of Essex Junction, Essex Town and Westford.
