Superintendent Search update: Final Candidate Recommendations

Dear Members of the Chittenden Central Supervisory Union Educational Community,

The purpose of this letter is to share with you the status of our Superintendent search. The update comes from our search facilitator, Brian O’Regan and details the results of the search committee’s work.

The Board echoes his appreciation for the work of the search committee, and looks forward to receive their full recommendation report.

The CCSU Executive Committee on behalf of the CCSU Board

Mark Drapa, Chair (Westford)
Michael Smith, Vice Chair (Prudential Committee)
Jack Behlendorf, Clerk (U46)

After reviewing applications of both in state and out-of-state candidates, the Screening Committee interviewed six candidates followed by second round interviews of three candidates. The Committee has identified its viable candidates, per its charge by the CSSU Board, and has forwarded those candidates for Board interviews.

The candidates are: Winton Goodrich, former associate superintendent in South Burlington and former associate director of the Vermont School Boards Association; and, Judy DeNova, our current serving superintendent.

The Board has scheduled the evening of February 18 for final candidate interviews with the entirety of the CCSU Board.

I wish to extend appreciation to the members of the Search Committee for their efforts over the past two months. The membership of staff, parents, community members and high school student represented CCSU well in identifying the best candidates. The large number of hours conducting interviews, evaluating and discussing candidates and engaging in many other related activities reflected a significant investment of time and energy on our behalf. To the Committee members: thank you.

The Board will process the feedback from the Committee and that received from further reference checks to further inform a final decision.

Brian O’Regan
