Governor Peter Shumlin recently appointed Teacher Apprenticeship Program (TAP) Director Scott Mosher to serve on the VT Standards Board for Professional Educators (VSBPE) for a three-year term.

The VSBPE is a 13-member board that oversees training, licensing, and professional standards of teachers and administrators, with a goal of encouraging quality educators.  This board is comprised mostly of educators and is able to inform state policy.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to serve the state of Vermont’s educational community in this capacity,” Mosher said.  “This appointment recognizes the efforts of CCSU to develop the next generation of teacher through its accredited Teacher Apprenticeship Program.”

CCSU Superintendent Michael Deweese applauded Mosher’s appointment.  “Scott is on the forefront of contemporary thinking about pre-teacher education and standards.  Through his leadership with the CCSU TAP program, his knowledge and experience will serve the VSBPE well.”

TAP is an eight-month program devoted to helping those interested in becoming educators. This program is able to recommend candidates directly to the Vermont Department of Education (VT DOE) for licensure.
